Watercolor Seascapes Workshop

There is something endlessly captivating and beautiful about a large body of water like an ocean or sea. In this workshop, we are bringing all of that to life on paper. Watercolor seascapes are often considered an advanced subject, but I have designed this class specifically to break down the techniques in a way that makes them approachable and achievable for every single participant, whether you have never picked up a paintbrush before or have been painting for years.

You will learn the foundational skills needed to paint expressive, luminous waves, including wet-on-wet, controlling water flow, and building depth with color, all while working at your own pace in a warm, encouraging environment. Every participant leaves with a finished painting they are genuinely proud of.

And because great art deserves great company, your registration includes tea service and a selection of tea time treats, courtesy of our wonderful host, Apothica Teas. Come ready to paint, relax, and enjoy a truly special afternoon.

This workshop is for participants who are ages 16&up!

Join us for this month's book club read!
We meet on the last Wednesday of the month, 6:30pm.
May's book pick is from author Gareth Brown.

Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book…It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them. Now Cassie is being hunted by those who want the book. With only her roommate Izzy to confide in, she has to decide if she will help those who claim they can protect the Book of Doors from those who seek to do evil. Because only one place is safe—and only Cassie’s book can get them there.

This is a free event open to anyone and everyone!

Apothica Book Club - The Crescent Moon Tearoom

Join us for this month's book club read!
We meet on the last Wednesday of the month, 6:30pm.
April's book pick is from author Stacy Sivinski.
———
Apothica's April book club read is The Crescent Moon Tearoom, the debut novel from Stacy Sivinski (who holds a PhD from Notre Dame!) set in 19th-century Chicago. All are welcome to join us for discussion over tea and nibbles.

Ever since the untimely death of their parents, triplets Anne, Beatrix, and Violet Quigley have made a business of threading together the stories that rest in the swirls of ginger, cloves, and cardamom that lie at the bottom of their customers’ cups. That is, until the Council of Witches comes calling with news that the city Diviner has lost her powers, and they suddenly find themselves victim to a long-foretold family curse that threatens to tear the sisters apart. With dwindling time to rewrite their future and help three other witches challenge their own destinies, the Quigleys set out to bargain with Fate. But in focusing so closely on saving each other, will they lose sight of themselves?

Apothica Book Club - Soulless (Parasol Protectorate series)

Join us for this month's book club read!
We meet on the last Wednesday of the month, 6:30pm.
March's pick is from author Gail Carriger--the first in the Parasol Protectorate series of books
———
Buffy meets Jane Austen in the first book of this wickedly funny NYT bestselling series about a young woman whose brush with the supernatural leads to a deadly investigation of London's high society. Join us for tea and nibbles to discuss the book that inspired Apothica Teas!

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette.

Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

Soulless is the first book of the Parasol Protectorate series: a comedy of manners set in Victorian London, full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.
